About Me

My journey in photography began over four decades ago with a humble Fujica rangefinder camera and a passion for capturing moments in time. Those early days, spent developing black and white film in my school's darkroom, taught me the fundamentals of composition, light, and the patience required to craft the perfect image. My fortunate apprenticeship with a photographer at the Derby Evening Telegraph opened doors to event photography at a young age, helping me develop both technical skills and the ability to capture fleeting moments under pressure.
As the digital revolution transformed photography around the turn of the millennium, I embraced the changing technology while holding onto the timeless principles of great image-making. Through years of experimentation with various camera systems, I've settled into a trusted partnership with Nikon equipment over the past decade. This combination of classical training in film photography and mastery of modern digital techniques gives me a unique perspective on wedding photography. I bring both the careful eye of a darkroom craftsman and the technical precision of contemporary digital imaging to every wedding I photograph.
My forty years behind the lens have taught me that while equipment and technology evolve, the essence of capturing genuine human moments remains unchanged. Whether I'm working with natural light or studio flash, color or black and white, my goal is always the same: to create authentic, emotional images that tell your story and stand the test of time.
